2017 Long Beach Golf Festival Recap

The 2017 Long Beach Golf Festival came to a successful conclusion on Sunday, July 30, when Bryan Martin of Thousand Oaks (who has teed it up in many past LBGF events including not just the Open but Men’s City and Match Play) cruised to a 5-shot victory with a total score of 22-under par. Martin’s consistent play on rounds of 65-67-67-67 = 266 was the lowest winning total in many years and he won by 5 shots. Long Beach’s Torey Edwards also coasted to his second consecutive victory in the Amateur portion of the Open at 13-under par, which was also 5 shot margin of vistory. Upon conclusion of the Open, charitable donations were made to local charities; the Assistance League of Long Beach ( $2,500 ), Long Beach Partners of Parks ( $3,000 ) and the Long Beach State 49er Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams ( $1,500 ). Finally, two new members were inducted into the Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame, Larry Grant and Mike McMonegal.
