Green-side Bunker Renovation Project begins at Rec Park 18

Rec-18-Bunkers-002Starting Monday, October 21, the project to renovate the fairway bunkers at Big Rec began.

For drawings of the proposed rework of each bunker CLICK HERE.

This project is funded from the City of Long Beach Golf Capital Improvement Fund. Ten percent of every green fee paid on the City of Long Beach golf courses goes into a Capital Improvement Fund, and each year many projects are undertaken to work on anything from emergency repairs, to infrastructure improvements to renovation or course improvement projects. Approximately $180,000 will be used to complete the renovation of all of the green-side bunkers at Big Rec, with the exception of the bunkers behind the uphill #5 green and behind the 16th green. These two bunkers and the remaining fairway bunkers will be renovated in 2014.

During this project -- expected to take about one month to complete -- there may be some disruption to the normal flow of the course or there may be one or two temporary holes. We appreciate your patience and understanding as these significant improvements are made to the course. For handicap purposes, you should post net par on any temporary hole you play.
