26th Annual LBUSD Junior Clinic at Skylinks

2014-LBUSD-002Skylinks Head Golf Professional Spencer McDaniel welcomes the 185 participants and the teachers and chaperones, the 26th Annual LBUSD golf clinic at Skylinks GCFor the 26th time, American Golf, its teaching professionals and the Long Beach Junior Golf Association partnered to host 185 kids from the Long Beach Unified School District for an introductory day of demonstration and driving range practice. After a previous week of pretty oppressive heat, a much-appreciated cool and cloudy day met the participants from Newcombe, Carver, Cubberly and Burcham schools on May 19th at Skylinks at Long Beach Golf Course.

Approximately 30 adult volunteers operated hitting stations allowing each child to hit 5-6 balls in a rotation that lasted about 40 minutes. Parents and chaperones also help organize the event. After the hitting stations, 6 kids were asked to come forward and show what they had learned. At the end of the day, everyone got a hot dog, chip and drink courtesy of American Golf.
