Recognition Ceremony at Rec Park South Set for Feb. 5th

rec_parksouth_rec_ceremony_400x200After nearly $400,000 in capital improvements to the golf course and clubhouse, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine and American Golf Corporation will officially recognize... the reopening of Recreation Park South Course on Friday, February 5th at 3:00 pm.

According to Director of Parks, Recreation and Marine Director Phil Hester, “ten percent of every green fee charged on the Long Beach Golf Courses goes into a Capital Improvement Account just for the golf courses, and it was time to spend some money on the South Course.” Included in the various projects were a complete refurbishing of the Clubhouse, Golf Shop and Café, as well as the addition of new cart paths, new bunkers and two new tee boxes.

“Most of the work happened on the parts of the course that are north of 6th Street,” Hester said, “but we will do similar improvements to the rest of the course once all of the projects associated with the Colorado Lagoon are completed in the next few years”.
