Rain Doesn't Hamper Rededication Ceremony at Rec Park 9-Hole

Rec-South-110_400x200Approximately 50 people flaunted the rain on Friday, February 5th, to celebrate the re-dedication of Recreation Park 9-hole Golf Course.

Nearly $400,000 from the City’s Golf Capital Improvement Fund was used to rebuild or create five new bunkers, enlarge 2 greens, replace or repair several existing cart paths and stairways, plant 150 trees, paint and re-carpet the clubhouse and café, purchase all new fixtures, furniture and hole signs and install new entertainment features for customers.

General Manager Darren Merrihew and Regional VP Brian Bode highlighted and discussed the various aspects of the projects, thanked numerous people who had input and were part of the process, and thanked the customers of the South Course for their patience during some of the construction.  Golf Commission Chairman John McCann – who has also been a member of the South Course Men’s Club for over 40 years – also spoke, heaping praise on the various projects as well as the process by which everything took place.
